It’s a fashion show on wheels! Mobile boutique takes clothing and accessories on the road

‘You don’t have to go to the mall, we can come to you.’

A local woman has taken her fashion dreams to the streets – in a former shuttle bus converted into a mobile boutique.

T’ae Winston of Dayton launched the Fashion Remedy Boutique bus in April.

“It’s a dream I’ve had,” she said. “I’ve always liked jewelry and clothes, making people feel beautiful and helping them get dressed.”

Winston takes the shuttle to baby showers, bachelorette parties, church events and festivals. The boutique can be booked at no cost for private parties with seven or more guests.

“It’s convenient for customers,” Winston said. “You don’t have to go to the mall, we can come to you.”

The rolling boutique, once a shuttle bus for a day care, has been transformed into a chic shop on wheels.

A mechanic gutted the interior and installed carpet, racks for clothing and sunglasses, shelving and mirrors. A surround sound system with lighting in neon colors adds to the party atmosphere. Winston said she invested $14,000 into the shuttle bus renovation and a customized wrap.

Handbags and statement jewelry fill shelves inside the boutique and jump suits, dresses, jeans, cocktail dresses and corporate attire hangs from racks.

Winston said she can order clothing for women of all sizes from small to 3X with prices ranging from $15 to $60. Purses range between $15 and $50 and sunglasses are $15 to $20.

Winston, who also offers personal styling, said she came up with the idea for a mobile boutique rather than a permanent shop to keep overhead down so she could purchase the latest trends in fashion for her customers.

She would like to find a location or business in the community that will allow her to park each day.

“People will have an amazing time,” Winston said. “I like to have fun and make women feel confident.”
