7 Dayton restaurants and other businesses given cheers for helping tornado survivors

Community members are applauding Miami Valley businesses, groups and individuals who are offering water and meals to people in the aftermath of the destructive Memorial Day tornadoes that left one man dead.

National Weather Service investigators confirmed Wednesday that 13 tornadoes hit the Dayton area Monday night.

The state sees an average of 19 tornadoes a year, according to Storm Center 7 meteorologist Kirsti Zontini.  

On Wednesday, we asked local residents to give shout-outs to those making a difference and there was no shortage of suggestions.
