One of the Oregon District's most popular restaurants has added some significant size.
Roost Modern Italian, at 524 E. Fifth St., finished an 18-month expansion and renovation project this week that doubled the restaurant's size and more than doubled its seating capacity.
Roost owner Dana Downs said the restaurant received its occupancy permit this week for its four-season patio dining room, which seats an additional 26 diners.
The first phase of the renovation project increased the seating area, added a large bar (boosting bar seating from six to 28) and a pasta kitchen. It was completed in December.
The final phase of the project covered and enclosed what had been an outdoor patio. A sliding garage-door and multiple windows help the new space maintain an open-air patio atmosphere, but the space is heated and can be used year-round.
