3 things to know about one of Dayton’s most notorious heists

A daring midday heist occurred at the Sol Partner jewelry store in 1936. Members of the soon-to-be-infamous “Brady Gang” took $75,000 worth of jewelry.

Here are three things to know about the robbery:

1. Fancy footwork. The leader of the gang, Albert Brady, was a big roller skating fan. "Brady frequented several roller skating rinks and had exhibited a particular liking for the sport," according to the FBI's website.

2. Bed linen makes the perfect carry-all. The robbery only took 20 minutes. The bandits stuffed the stolen goods into pillowcases and made several trips to a car waiting outside the store.

3. Keep moving. If you were unlucky enough to be passing by and stopped to window shop a gunman quietly ushered you inside the store.
