This popular Dayton coffee shop is launching a food truck with gourmet ice cream sandwiches

One of Dayton’s favorite coffee and baked goods shops is gearing up to put the “how on the road -- and it’s bringing ice cream sandwiches along for the ride.

Ghostlight Coffee, located at 1201 Wayne Ave. in Dayton’s South Park neighborhood, hopes to launch its new food truck this fall.

“We are kind of starting it as a coffee break truck with the goal of taking it on the road to area businesses and parts of towns,” Ghostlight owner Shane Anderson said.

Anderson ironically purchased the truck, a 1991 Utimaster model that looks like a post office truck, last spring from an Anderson, Ind. candy and ice cream store owner.

“It is a fun truck,” he said, noting it is being equipped at Carl’s Body Shop on Wayne Ave. near his store.

The truck will sell coffee, tea, iced coffee and an assortment of cookies, muffins and other baked goods from Ghostlight’s bakery.

Anderson said he hopes to have breakfast sandwich for sale at the truck first few stops each mornings.

The truck will also be used for catering and at food truck rallies and events. Fans will be able to follow it on socal media using the #GhostTruck hashtag.
