We’ve learned some tasty new details about the restaurant chain that will make its debut in the Dayton area in one of The Greene Town Center’s newest and most prominent retail spaces.
Olshan Properties, owner of The Greene, announced in September that Texas-based Fuzzy’s Taco Shop had signed a lease for a 3,871 square-foot space in a building that opened last year at the center’s front entrance on Indian Ripple Road.
Here’s what to expect — and when to expect it — from southwest Ohio’s first Fuzzy’s Taco Shop:
• It opens on Monday. The highly anticipated taco shop will open on Monday, April 23. The restaurant will employ about 35.
• It’s not just for lunch and dinner. Fuzzy’s is known for its Mexican dishes such as Baja-style tacos, white queso and jumbo burritos in addition to frozen margaritas and beer. But breakfast is served all day.
• These Texans have found something they like about Ohio. Fuzzy’s has tripled its franchise restaurant openings since February 2016, when Atlanta-based NRD Capital acquired a majority stake in the company, according to Nation’s Restaurant News. As of earlier this year, the chain had 105 franchised units and only seven company-owned locations. Yet the restaurant coming to The Greene — along with another Fuzzy’s coming to Columbus’ Arena District this fall — are NOT franchise locations, as would be expected so far from Fort Worth headquarters. They are corporate-owned, a Fuzzy’s spokeswoman said.
• Customer loyalty is rewarded. The Fuzzy’s Taco Shop “Friends With Benefits” loyalty app allows guests to earn points toward free Fuzzy’s food and merchandise. To download the app visit the iTunes App Store or Android Google Play store and search for “Fuzzy’s”.
