Tank's makes major menu change

Tank’s, you fancy.

The classic Dayton restaurant established in 1987 at 2033 Wayne Avenue in Dayton has gotten rid of the sometimes grease-covered paper menus we've all grown accustomed to in favor of a tri-fold menu in a nice holder with -- get this -- zany graphics.

WHAT!?!

We were surprised, too.

Tank's bartender Dee Dee Godin said customers have noticed the change.

"The first thing they say is that we are getting fancy," she said.

People then ask if prices have increased.

Godin said only a few items have gone up in price, the first increase in six years.

She said it was time for the paper menus to go.

"We wanted to step it up a notch," she said.  "The paper ones, they get dirty and they look bad."

WHY CHANGE?
The move also makes it easier for people to see what items Tank's has to offer by consolidating three menus: the lunch/dinner menu, the breakfast menu, and the pizza, calzone and broasted chicken menu down to one.

The breadth and depth of what the restaurant served was lost to some.

"A lot of people didn't know we had pizza, calzones and broasted chicken," Godin said.

When you think about it, the new menu shouldn't come as that much of a surprise.

Tank's Bar & Grill has been making changes to carry out late founder Dan Tankersley's vision.

WHAT ABOUT THE GRUB?
The restaurant has not dropped any items. The pastrami, a fan favorite, is still available even though it was accidentally left off the new menu.

The restaurant add a few new dishes, including overstuffed baked potatoes, Irish nachos and fried bologna.
