Warehouse 4 coffee shop, chosen one of ‘Best in Ohio,’ confirms 2nd location on Wilmington Pike in Kettering

The owner of Warehouse 4 Cafe and Bake Shop in Vandalia — which scored a shout-out last fall as one of the “100 Best Coffee Shops in Ohio” — confirmed Wednesday that he will open a second location on Wilmington Pike in Kettering.

The new coffee shop and bakery will be located at 3131 Wilmington Pike at Devon Avenue, in a former Union Savings Bank branch, and it could open as soon as the latter half of September, Warehouse 4 owner Ben Neely told this news outlet July 29.

“We bought it a couple of years ago and sat on it a bit,” Neely said of the property during a phone interview. “It turned out to be an excellent location. It sets up really well for us.”

The new coffee shop will have a drive-through that was already a part of the bank branch, and a small patio is being added, Neely said.

Warehouse 4 on Tuesday posted an update about the new Kettering location on its Facebook page, but did not disclose its location.

Neely and his family-owned firm bought Warehouse 4 in Vandalia in August 2015 with the idea of expanding the brand in the Dayton area.

“The business has gone so well in Vandalia,” Neely said. “Our customers have been so supportive.” And a healthy portion of his Vandalia shop’s customers live in Kettering and other suburban areas in the southern half of Montgomery County, the owner said.

In October 2019, the Vandalia Warehouse 4, located at 335 S. Dixie Drive, was ranked third on a Yelp list of 100 Best Coffee Shops in Ohio.

Yelp Ohio identified businesses in their coffee shops category, then ranked those spots using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews, according to cleveland.com, which partnered with Yelp to release the rankings. The list took into consideration reviews from the entire state of Ohio.

The new shop will create 12 to 15 new jobs, most of them part-time, Neely said.

Buildout of the region’s second Warehouse Cafe and Bake Shop is underway, and its owner said he is targeting a late-September opening if all goes well.
