The Dayton Greek Festival’s holiday market only has a few more days left to place an order. Pre-orders for a Dec. 4 pick-up can be made through Nov. 19.

Pastries, frozen foods, grocery items and boutique holiday gifts are all on the menu to be enjoyed.

Last year a drive-through, COVID-friendly version of the Dayton Greek Festival was enacted to help make up the income short falls that were being felt by not having the festival. This year they decided to continue again based on the success of the event.

Highlights include a pastry variety box ($18) that includes two baklava, one kourambiethes (traditional Greek butter cookie), one amigdalota (almond cookie), one melomakarona (Greek honey walnut cookie) and four koulourias (a buttery twisted shortbread cookie).

This box is an awesome gift for the person who has everything and doesn’t need to steer clear from sugar, carbs or gluten.

There are several frozen dishes that you can purchase to enjoy through the holiday season. A half pan of frozen pastitsio ($55), a Greek lasagna made with seasoned meat, noodles and bechamel sauce is available. The half pan serves 9-12 and includes baking instructions.

There’s also frozen tiropita (cheese pies) and frozen spanakopita (spinach pies) that are sold in a tray of regular size 3 oz. with 24 pieces or 48 appetizers done in 1 oz. sizes. Cost is $48 for any of these options.

Grocery items include Greek salad dressing, extra virgin Greek olive oil, Greek coffee, Theareston Thyme Honey, Greek oregano, mint leaves, and tea. The “Greek Boutique” has the largest selection with 22 items including towels, cookbooks, ornaments, lotion, earrings, soap and more. This year they’ve added a traditional gyro kit or chicken gyro kit that serves five for $25 each.

With orders only open just a few more days, now is the time to get them in. All orders must be placed online and pre-paid by credit card. Pick-up is Sunday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
