A joint venture between Great American Group and Tiger Capital Group has partnered with MC Sports to “facilitate the orderly exit of all 68 of its stores across the Midwest,” according to a company statement. Store closing sales started on Feb. 14 and are expected to last several weeks before all the merchandise is sold.

Discounts up to 30 percent are available on dozens of sporting gooods brands. Official closing dates have not been announced.

“Our deep history of working with retailers such as MC Sports has given us the experience to quickly and efficiently exit these locations,” said Scott Carpenter, president of GA Retail Solutions.

The chain reported a net loss of $5.4 million on sales of more than $174 million in the last fiscal year. MC Sports has a presence in 12 cities in Ohio, according to the company’s website. The company said it has faced “increased competition, the blurring of distribution channels by key athletic and outdoor brands, increasing direct to consumer sales by key vendors, and the market disruption and growth of e-commerce.”

The company was founded in 1946 in Michigan, and operates in seven states.
