New Butler County event immerses you in the vibrant culture of Native Americans

MetroParks of Butler County is launching a new event this fall.

The Great Miami River First People’s Celebration will be coming to Governor Bebb MetroPark on Sept. 22

The event will put on display the vibrant culture of Native Americans while embracing the opportunity to honor their traditions, according to the Butler County parks system.

Activities will include a drum circle, dancers dressed in regalia, and intertribal traditional/contemporary dance and song demonstrations.

The Southern Singers, Chaske Hotain, Southeastern WaterSpider, and Thunder Nation will provide the event with a cultural experience through drumming and singing.

Historical interpretation tours of Governor Bebb MetroPark’s Pioneer Village will also be offered.

Head Lady (Stephanie Warfield), Head Man (Wolf Irwin), Head Warrior (Charlie Keith), Master of Ceremonies (Jamie Oxendine), and Keynote Speaker (Guy Jones) will take event guests on an educational adventure through Native American traditions.

A variety of dance, song, and regalia styles can be witnessed throughout the day.
