While supplies last, guests are welcome to eight pulled pork samples and a vote in the people’s choice contest.

The Barbecue Rodeo also includes an amateur competition where teams of aspiring entrepreneurs or backyard enthusiasts can have their barbecue evaluated by KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) standards. The winning team will receive a trophy and cash prize.

This event is about so much more than BBQ, organizers said.

“Music has always been a big part of the Rodeo and this year we’re excited to welcome nationally touring act, The Ragbirds,” Jeff Stringer, Barbecue Rodeo organizer and owner of Smokin’ Bee-Bee-Q said. “Three dollars gets you a day full of amazing music and a chance to taste some of the region’s best barbecue, hard to beat that! We really wanted there to be something for everyone. Barbecue is all about getting together with friends and enjoying a great day outside and that’s what we have planned for the 27th.”
