"That dog had no choice," Gary Rogers, of the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, told WABC. "It didn't say, 'Hey, I want a beer and I want it poured down my throat.' So it's wrong, on every level, it's wrong and just irrational thinking."
The dog is a 10-month-old Cavalier King Charles spaniel. According to the Nassau County SPCA, one of the men in the video is the dog’s owner, the television station reported. The other man has not been identified.
"The behavior seen on the video is unacceptable and in violation of the University's Code of Community Standards," Hofstra spokeswoman Karla Schuster said. "The University has been in communication with Alpha Epsilon Pi International headquarters, as well as with chapter members regarding this off-campus incident."
Kristina Proscia, a student at nearby Adelphi University, said her friend showed her the video on Snapchat. Proscia then tweeted a few seconds of the video on Twitter, writing "So apparently it's okay to force dogs to drink beer even though it can kill them????"
Proscia said she was “heartbroken.”
"I couldn't believe that someone would even think to do that," Proscia told Fios1News.
Rogers said the owner could face a misdemeanor charge, WABC reported.
