WORTH THE DRIVE: Tickets almost gone for margarita fest on famous Purple People Bridge

It’s not every day you get to sip creative margaritas, with an iconic Cincinnati bridge as your backdrop.

Margarita Madness will take place on Thursday, May 23, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on the Purple People Bridge, a pedestrian bridge that joins Newport, Ky. and downtown Cincinnati.

Tickets are nearly sold out, event organizers said today.

The seventh annual event will feature tequila, food, live music and healthy competition for margaritas and guacamole.

Local guest judges and the public will vote for Best Margarita, Most Creative Margarita, and People’s Choice. There will also be a Guac-Off to crown Queen City’s official Guac aficionado.

Tickets are $40 and include 10 drink samples, food samples, live music by Cincinnati island band The Sunburners and one token to vote. Purchase tickets here while they remain available.

Participants include aloft hotels, Cactus Pear, Chart House, Condado, Keystone Bar & Grill, Lalo, McCormick & Schmick’s, Queen City Hemp, Revel Urban Winery, Rose Dale, Sammy’s Craft Burgers and Beers and The Pub.
