***ORIGINAL STORY (Feb. 12, 2019)***
La Michoacana Mexican Market & Restaurant is expanding in the Dayton area, adding a new location in Huber Heights.
The new market is under construction at 6220 Chambersburg Road in the Huber Plaza, in the same retail strip where Alematic Artisan Ales opened to the public last week.
The Columbus-based chain operates a market at 748 Troy St. in Dayton along with eight more markets in the Columbus area. The Troy Street location, known as La Michoacana #5, “will remain open,” a spokesperson for the chain told this news outlet.
The new Huber Heights location, La Michoacana #10, is scheduled to open this spring, according to a construction worker at the site.
More than half of the products sold in La Michoacana are imports from Mexico and Latin America. The store has a large produce selection, in-house butcher cutting meats to order, a full-service restaurant and items commonly used in Latino kitchens, company officials say on the La Michoacana web site.
