A new trial date has been set for the owner of a Miami Twp. wedding venue.
Stoney Hill Farms owner Darren Powlette’s case on a refiled misdemeanor charge involving a zoning violation is set to go forward May 31, according to Miamisburg Municipal Court records.

The new date was set last week after the township said Powlette did not stop advertising the Upper Miamisburg Road site as a bed and breakfast by a date set by the court, a condition that violates the Nov. 26 dismissal of a zoning violation against him, records show.

Last spring, the township charged Powlette, 50, with the misdemeanor of violating its zoning laws. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Powlette and his attorneys have contended Ohio’s agritourism law exempts his business from local jurisdictions. Powlette has two other civil cases pending in Montgomery County courts related to his business.
