The former-food-truck-turned-restaurant at 1200 Brown St. near the University of Dayton told fans on its Facebook page that it has:
• added several salad options to the menu. Side salads or entree dinner-sized salads are available with mixed greens, toppings and house-made dressings. Customers can add any of the restaurant's proteins to their salads. "We've tried rolling them out before on our food truck, and as usual, space was always a problem," owners David and Lee VanArtsdalen said. "But now that we have the restaurant, I think they're a better fit."

• With the help of Cake, Hope, & Love, the Beavercreek bakery that has supplied Zombie Dogz with cupcakes, Zombie Dogz is now offering "Cake Push Pops." "Not only is the packaging cute, but they're neater when you eat them … and the best stinking part is if you want to save it for later, all you do is snap the cap back on," the restaurant's owners wrote.

• Added more hotdogs to its menu. "We will have a permanent menu of 12 hot dogs to choose from, always — (and) we will have a weekly special," the VanArtsdalens wrote.

• unveiled a charitable initiative that will benefit victims of the Flint, Michigan water crisis, and will help pay for health and medical research, bottles/gallons of clean water, mental and psychological assistance for those in distress, and other programs, the restaurant's owners said.

Announcement of these menu additions comes the week after the restaurant’s owners re-applied for a beer license to serve craft beers in Zombie Dogz. There is no timetable for that to happen until the necessary state license is secured.

Zombie Dogz started the transition from food truck to bricks-and-mortar restaurant in 2016, opening its restaurant in November 2016. A year later, the VanArtsdalens announced they would retire their food truck, which they said was “on its last legs” in need of expensive repairs.

The Zombie Dogz food truck was winner of the “Best Food Truck in Ohio” designation in Ohio Magazine’s 2016 Best of Ohio Readers’ Ballot. Zombie Dogz also finished second in Mobile Cuisine’s 2016 Hot Dog Vendor of the Year poll — a national poll.
