Kettering man's art added to unexpected "canvas"

Your next pair of Vans shoes very well may have a local connection.

The work of Kettering-based graphic artist Don Pendleton, a recent Grammy winner thanks to his work with none other than Pearl Jam, has been added to Vans' Classic Lites.

Here is a blurb from Vans:

"As a celebrated skateboard graphic artist, Don Pendleton brings his deep roots in skateboarding and art to life on three innovative LXVI styles. Don’s ability to incorporate references to ambiguous characters as they compete for space within his unique linear compositions creates an expressive reflection on the state of contemporary society and culture. Don’s unique designs can be found on the new Authentic Lite, Sk8-Hi Lite and the Iso 2 Mid."

The collection retails for about $65 to $85 and are available  online and/or at retailers.
