How to celebrate National Record Store Day in Dayton

There’s nothing quite like jamming to some vinyl.

Saturday, April 21 is National Record Store Day, and there are a few places you have to check out if you’re into finding rarities or building your collection.

April's First Friday events included the opening of Beaute Box and re-opening of Spice Paradise, A Kentucky-Derby themed fashion show put on by BRIM and Clash, and a 35th anniversary party for Omega Music. Yellow Cab Tavern hosted its annual Crafty Con featuring over 30 artisans, while the Dayton Visual Arts Center previewed its annual Art Auction. OMEGA MUSIC

Omega Music will have limited vinyl releases for sale plus a special Warped Wing beer tasting (at 4 p.m.) of a limited edition beer, brewed especially for Record Store Day 2018. It’s a 2XLP Double India Pale Ale (bottles will be for sale while supplies last). Proceeds from beer sales will go to Five Rivers Youth Rugby Foundation. In addition, bring a book donation for Project READ and receive the chance to spin the prize wheel. 

Enjoy: Free swag bags for early bird customers, beer tastings, prize wheel and live music. Shantz Express will arrive at 11 a.m. to serve up their Angus burgers, wings and ‘dogs to hungry record lovers.

Listen: Enzo plays at 4 p.m., followed by Farnsworth at 5 p.m., ROAD EYES at 6 p.m., Freakquency at 7 p.m., Lioness at 8 p.m. and SKRT at 9 p.m.

SKELETON DUST RECORDS

The store will be stocked with new and used titles of all kinds. According to their Facebook event page, Skeleton Dust looks forward to celebrating our love of music with other like-minded individuals. DJs will be spinning records all day long to add to the festivities.

Celebrating Record Store Day with Dogfish Head all day. There will be records playing all day on a Dogfish Head Record Player, as well as giveaways. Bring in a record you'd like to play, and you’ll get a trade for a Dogfish Head Glass. With your first pour of a Dogfish beer, you'll get a Record Store Day poster and sticker.
