Gem City Shine: Stevie Wonder seen doing soundcheck in Oregon District

Some famous faces have started to appear in Dayton as we get closer to today’s block party in the Oregon District.

Music icon Stevie Wonder was seen doing a soundcheck on the main stage earlier today just across from the Dublin Pub at Wayne Avenue and Fifth Street.

The event called "Gem City Shine," hosted by Dave Chappelle, is intended to be a benefit concert to reclaim the Oregon District in the wake of a mass shooting where nine people were killed — Logan Turner, Nicholas Cumer, Thomas McNichols, Beatrice Warren-Curtis, Monica Brickhouse, Megan Betts, Derrick Fudge, Lois Oglesby and Saeed Saleh.

Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and their children were at RiverScape this morning to hold a “Sunday Service” event.

A few other celebrities also attended the service, including Chappelle and comedian Michael Che of Saturday Night Live.

West and his choir were seen late Saturday singing happy birthday to Chappelle in a video taken at the UD Marriott.

Kanye and Kim were also seen at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery with their children.
