The School of Advertising Art and Alter High School started construction today on multi-million expansion projects.

SAA, on East David Road, announced in May their intentions for a $6 million, 23,000-square-foot expansion. The school’s current building received renovations last August. Construction is expected to be completed in 2018.

SAA is a nationally recognized college for graphic design.

Alter High School started a $4.3 million expansion on a new arts wing that’s 10 years in the making.

The project, which includes an extension to the west side of the school at 940. E. David Rd. will include a 236-seat theater with a balcony, multi-purpose suites, a large art gallery on both floors and a box office for ticket sales, according to project director David Wineberg.

The building will also feature two-story music/band rooms, a dance class room, skyboxes and dressing rooms.

Alter’s expansion is expected to be completed by the second semester of the 2017-2018 school year.
