The Dayton area's second Which Wich Superior Sandwiches restaurant is set to open Monday, Jan. 20 in Beavercreek.

The region’s newest deli-style restaurant is scheduled to open at 2820 Centre Drive, Suite 200, The location, off North Fairfield Road near the Mall at Fairfield Commons, is in a newly constructed retail building in Beavercreek Towne Center, in front of the Kohl’s and Fresh Thyme.

The new restaurant’s franchise owner, Gauravi Jani, moved to Beavercreek Twp. with her husband in 2017. She had planned to open a Which Wich in the Cleveland area prior to relocating, and after noting that Beavercreek did not have a Which Wich, she worked with the restaurant chain to develop a new location. The Dayton area’s first Which Wich, which opened  in April 2018 in Cornerstone of Centerville, is under separate franchise ownership.

The North Fairfield Road/Fairfield Commons area  has attracted dozens of restaurants in recent years, some with deli-style concepts. The past year was an eventful one for such sandwich-driven eateries: the Dayton area’s first Jason’s Deli opened in April 2019 next to Giordano’s Pizza across from the Fairfield Commons Mall; Primanti Bros. decided not to reopen its only Dayton-area location after it was damaged in the Memorial Day tornadoes; and Flyboys Deli closed its Beavercreek location at the Mall at Fairfield Commons on Dec. 31, with plans to relocate to downtown Dayton.

Jani said her restaurant will differentiate itself by its ability to customize diners’ meals.

“You can add things, you can omit things,” she said. “If we have the ingredient, we’ll put it on a sandwich for you.”

Which Wich is launching a charitable component called “Project PB&J:” for every special peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich sold each month, an equal number of those same sandwiches will be donated to a local non-profit organization, Jani said. The beneficiary will rotate, and the restaurant will take suggestions from customers on worthy organizations.

Jani said she would like to open additional Which Wich locations in the region.

“We feel very positive about the food, we feel very positive about the brand, and we like what it stands for,” Jani said.

The location near the Mall at Fairfield Commons is in a new outlot retail building that is nearing completion in front of the Kohl’s/Fresh Thyme shopping center, Beavercreek city officials said.

The 1,400-square-foot restaurant will seat about 25 and will employ 15 to 20, Vickers said. It is under separate franchise ownership from the Cornerstone of Centerville location.

“With Beavercreek being the second-largest suburb of Dayton, it is a natural fit to bring the Which Wich brand to the community,” Vickers told this news outlet. “The people of Ohio have really engaged with the brand and become ‘fanatics.’”

Vickers said Which Wich is “looking forward to developing additional locations in the area.”

The North Fairfield Road/Fairfield Commons Mall area has been a hotbed for new-restaurant activity, and it already houses two deli-style restaurants: Flyboy Deli and Jason’s Deli. Another deli-style restaurant, Primanti Bros., announced earlier this year it would not reopen its only Dayton-area restaurant after that eatery was damaged and forced to shut down following the Memorial Day tornadoes.
