The family that owns Singha Thai Homestyle Thai Food at 4123 W. Town and Country Road had a license to serve alcohol at their previous restaurant, Singha Thai in Cincinnati's Hyde Park, before selling that restaurant last year and moving from Cincinnati to Kettering. When the new Kettering restaurant in the "Village Shops" section of the Town & Country Shopping Center opened, its founder, Mint Thonawn, said she intended to apply for licenses.

If approved, the two licenses that the restaurant applied for would permit Singha Thai to serve beer, wine and mixed beverages, but the licenses would not authorize the sale of high-proof spirits.

The Dayton area’s newest Thai restaurant is now fully open to the public in Kettering.
Singha Thai Homestyle Thai Food is located at 4123 W. Town and Country Road in the "Village Shops" section of the Town & Country Shopping Center, behind the main Town & Country retail building. Its smaller retail building also houses First Watch restaurant.

The new restaurant offers an extensive menu of Thai specialties, including a dozen appetizers, eight salads, eight curry options, a dozen entree choices and multiple noodle and rice dishes. Special signature dishes include Ginger Sea Scallop, Basil BBQ Duck, Thai Eggplant Stir-Fried, and Seafood Crazy Noodle, consisting of egg noodles stir-fried with shrimp, squid, scallops, mussels, broccoli, carrot, onion, mushrooms, basil, bell pepper, lime leaves and sweet toasted chili paste.

A $6.95 lunch special with several curry, noodle, fried rice and entree options is also available during lunch hours.

The new Thai restaurant that has been in the works in the Town & Country Shopping Center at Stroop Road and Far Hills Avenue in Kettering is gearing up to open in the next week or so, its owner says.
Mint Thonawn, founder of Singha Thai Homestyle Thai Food, told this news outlet she is putting the finishing touches on her new restaurant and may do a “soft opening” shortly after Thanksgiving.

Singha Thai is located at 4123 West Town and Country Road in the “Village Shops” section of Town & Country, which consists of smaller retail spaces behind the main Town & Country retail building.
Thonawn and family members previously operated another restaurant called Singha Thai in the Hyde Park section of Cincinnati, but recently sold that restaurant, which now goes by Singha Thai Contemporary Thai & Sushi, and began looking in the Dayton area. She immediately liked the 2,000-square-foot space in the Town & Country shopping center, which is in the same retail building as First Watch restaurant, near Panera Bread Cafe.

She and her family have moved from Cincinnati to Kettering. “People here are so much friendlier than people in Cincinnati,” Thonawn said. “And they drive better, too.”

The menu will include many classic Thai dishes but will also include special offerings that come from family recipes, Thonawn said.

“What we cook at home, we cook and serve here,” she said.
Singha Thai will seat about 32 and will be open for lunch and dinner six days a week, closed Mondays. The restaurant will open without a liquor license, but intends to apply for one soon, Thonawn said.
