What's in a name: Kettering Health Network

Dayton is full of buildings named after people, but who the heck are these people?

Charles Francis Kettering

The Kettering Health Network, named for Charles F. Kettering,  is a nonprofit network of seven hospitals, eight emergency rooms, and over 75 outpatient centers that range from the greater Dayton area to Northern Cincinnati. According to KetteringHealth.org, Kettering looked at the world around him and saw how he could improve it.

"My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there,” Charles F. Kettering.
Kettering was the General Motors head of research for 27 years, and in that time he improved on many automotive parts and acquired 140 patents in his name. In his life, Kettering received over three dozen honorary doctorates along with dozens of awards, medals, and honors, according to NotableBiographies.com.

Charles F. Kettering has more than just the Kettering Health Network and Kettering Health Center named after him, he also has the Charles F. Kettering Foundation and the Sloan-Kettering Institute for Cancer Research as his namesakes.
