Break from rain today before widespread showers arrive tonight

After a wet night, there will be a break from the rain today, with rain chances dwindling around 9 a.m., though chances will start up again in the afternoon and showers will be likely again by dark, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Highs will be around 52 degrees.

There will be showers throughout the night, with a chance of thunderstorms starting around 2 a.m. Winds will also gradually increase, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Temperatures will remain about the same overnight, with lows only around 51 degrees.

Thursday will be warm, rainy, and windy, with a chance of thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. Highs will be around 68 degrees and gusts as high as 37 mph.

There will be multiple rounds of rainfall Thursday into Saturday, some of which could be heavy and cause a threat of local flooding.

Showers will continue Thursday night, though storm chances will fall away in the early morning. Lows will fall to around 44 degrees.

Rain will continue through the day on Friday and overnight, with a chance of thunderstorms Friday night.

Temperatures will be cooler on Friday, with highs around 53 degrees and lows around 43 degrees.
