Sunny, mild today; Enhanced fire danger this afternoon

Today will be mild and sunny with highs around 60 degrees; however, there is an enhanced fire danger this afternoon though 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

State law prohibits most open burning between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during the months of March, April, May, October and November.

A few clouds will move in tonight, and overnight temperatures will drop down to near freezing, around 33 degrees.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny and a little warmer, with highs around 65 degrees, followed by a mostly clear night with overnight lows around 38 degrees.

On Thursday, it will be sunny and mild, with highs again around 65 degrees.

Clouds will increase starting around dark, with a slight chance of showers shortly after sundown that will gradually increase as the night goes on.

Rain will be likely Friday morning. Widespread showers are expected throughout the day before tapering off Friday night.

A cold front also will move through the region Friday, bringing lower temperatures.

Highs will be in the upper 50s Friday.
