Emilio Estevez tells Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos all about his Dayton and Cincinnati roots

Star will be in Dayton this weekend to promote new film ‘The Public.’

He may not be “from” Ohio, but brat pack actor Emilio Estevez has Buckeye in his brain.

After high five-ing his way to the stage, The Staten Island, New York native explained why he is splitting his time between California and Ohio to Kelly Ripa and her husband and guest co-host actor Mark Consuelos ("Riverdale") on "LIVE with Kelly and Ryan" today, Friday, April 5.

“I am dividing my time these days between Los Angeles, where my family lives — my kids are there, my siblings, my parents — but I spend a lot of time in Cincinnati,” he said. “My dad is from Dayton.”

Hosted by Ripa and Ryan Seacrest, "LIVE with Kelly and Ryan" airs on WHIO-TV weekdays at 9 a.m.

Estevez is the son of Dayton native Martin Sheen, who was born Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez and still maintains ties to Dayton.

His mother, actress Janet Sheen, was raised in Cincinnati and also has ties to Dayton.

Emilio Estevez is scheduled to be in Dayton on Sunday, April 7 for a sold-out screening of his new critically-acclaimed film "The Public."

The movie was filmed in Cincinnati.

Local actors including musician John W. Harden, retired U.S. Marshal and Huber Heights police officer "Hickory" William Taylor and Dayton native Bryant Louis Bentley are extras in "The Public."

Tickets are still available for several screening of The Public including the screening at 2 p.m. Sunday.

There will be a community discussion about homelessness in the Dayton area following that screening.
